Band Dendrometers
The band dendrometer is a high precision dendrometer for the measurement of trunk, stem or branch shrinkage or expansion due to environmental conditions.
Dendrometers are used to measure the diameter or radial growth of trees. ICT International offer both band and point dendrometers, in manual or logging versions, as well as Internet of Things connected solutions.
Providing important information about the health and water status of a tree, the dendrometer measures water uptake and usage, as well as its response to environmental conditions such as drought or extreme temperatures. This information can be used to improve understanding of ecosystem processes, such as carbon cycling and water use, and can also be used for forest management and conservation.
Dendrometers can be used in combination with other instruments, such as sap flow sensors or soil moisture sensors, to gain a more complete understanding of a tree’s water balance and its role in the ecosystem.
