Plant ecophysiology seeks to understand how plants cope with environmental stress, such as drought, high temperature, and changes in light, and how they regulate water balance, nutrient uptake, and carbon uptake.

This has important implications for agriculture, forestry, and conservation. By understanding how plants respond to environmental conditions, we can develop better management strategies for crops and forests and improve our ability to conserve and protect plant species and ecosystems.

Key areas of study in plant ecophysiology include photosynthesis, water relations, nutrient uptake, carbon uptake and allocation and stress physiology.
