Dataview Sap Velocity

Key Platform Features

Advanced Sap Flow Analysis

Visualise inner and outer thermistor measurements, monitor sap velocity and convert sap flow measurements into estimated water-use rates. The platform allows users to account for sensor positioning within the sapwood and apply sapwood-thickness corrections to improve the representation of sap flow across the conducting tissue.

Key capabilities

  • Visualisation of inner and outer thermistor-derived sap velocities.
  • Sap velocity displayed in cm/h.
  • Corrections based on thermistor positioning and sapwood thickness.
  • Conversion of sap flow measurements into estimated litres per hour and litres per day.
  • Interactive graphs to explore changes in plant water use over time.
  • Analysis of daily patterns and longer-term trends.

Turn complex sap flow measurements into interpretable information about plant water use.

Integrated Environmental Monitoring (coming soon)

Integrate sap flow measurements with environmental data to investigate how changes in soil moisture, weather and water availability influence crop behaviour. Bring multiple measurement types into one monitoring interface, helping agronomists connect plant water use with the conditions affecting the crop.

Monitor parameters such as:

  • Plant water use and sap flow.
  • Soil moisture and soil temperature.
  • Weather conditions, including air temperature, relative humidity, rainfall and solar radiation.
  • Water availability and irrigation-related measurements.
  • Other environmental parameters supported by the connected instrumentation.
  • Diagnostics

Combine plant and environmental measurements to build a more complete understanding of crop performance.

Interactive graphs and historical data

Explore environmental and plant measurements through intuitive graphs and time-series visualisations. Track daily patterns, compare changing conditions and investigate how crops respond to environmental fluctuations.

  • View sap flow and environmental parameters over time.
  • Identify daily and seasonal trends.
  • Compare plant responses with changes in soil and weather conditions.
  • Investigate periods of high or low water use.
  • Review historical measurements to support ongoing crop assessments.

Make complex monitoring data easier to explore, interpret and communicate.

Customisable Calculations and Sensor Configuration

Different plants, sensor configurations and installation geometries require different measurement parameters.

Configure relevant calculation settings to reflect sensor positioning and the characteristics of the monitored plant.

For sap flow applications, this can include thermistor position within the sapwood and sapwood-thickness corrections used to calculate whole-stem flow estimates.

The result is a more flexible monitoring workflow that can accommodate different crops, installations and monitoring objectives.

Continuous real-time monitoring

Continuous monitoring provides a record of how plant water use and environmental conditions change throughout the day and across the growing season.

Instead of relying solely on occasional measurements, agronomists can review historical patterns and investigate events that occur between field visits.

Use these records to support crop assessments, compare management periods and build a stronger evidence base for agronomic recommendations.

CSV Data Upload and Analysis for all devices (IoT and not IoT)

ICT Dataview supports the upload of CSV files also from instruments and data loggers that do not transmit data directly online. Once uploaded, data can be visualised through the dashboard and used for water-use calculations, including sap flow analysis and estimated water-use rates. This allows users to analyse historical measurements, calculate plant water use and explore trends over time, even when their instruments operate offline. By combining manually uploaded datasets with online monitoring data, ICT Dataview provides a flexible solution for turning measurements from different monitoring systems into meaningful insights.
