The HFD1 and HFD2 Installation Kit for the Heat Deformation Sap Flux Meter is ordered in addition to HFD1 and HFD2.
For consistent and reliable installation of the HFD Sap Flow Meters, the kit is essential for the correct and accurate needle positioning.
Installation Kit Inclusions
The installation kit comes with the following tools and accessories:- Drill Guide: After removing the necessary bark the drill guide is attached to the tree with a velcro strap. For additional information about installation, please check the user manual
- 1.9mm Drill Bits: Drill bit for most installations
- 2.0mm Drill Bits: The 2.0mm drill bit is used to clean holes in species where the xylem fibres have either not been easily and cleanly cut and relax back into the path way after drilling or surrounding fibres expand into the hole and rapidly closing up the pathway making insertion of the needles difficult.
- 100mm Measurement Needle Sleeve: To be inserted into the drilled hole to aid in insertion and removal of the sensors.
- 120mm Measurement Needle Sleeve: To insert into the drilled hole to aid in insertion and removal of the sensors. Note this sleeve is longer than the measurement needle sleeves specifically for the longer heater needle.

- Dow Corning Vacuum Grease: Fill the 10 ml Offset Syringe with the grease to create a vacuum seal.
- 10ml Offset Syringe: Use the syringe filled with Silicon grease to smear around the whole of the wound, thus creating a vapour seal.
