SNiP-SHF for Soil Heat Flux

The SNiP-SHF is a 'Sensor Node Integrated Package' for LoRaWAN communication of real-time soil heat flux measurement for continuous soil monitoring.

SNiP-SHF

The base SNiP-SHF integrates 1x MFR-NODE, 2x THERM-SS Stainless Steel Thermistor, 1x HFP01 Soil Heat Flux Plate, and 1x MP406 Soil Moisture Probe to a site’s unique network, communication and power requirements.

The THERM-SS Stainless Steel Thermistor measures soil, air or liquid temperature. THERM-SS sensors can be used in a wide range of applications from soil monitoring and climate control to concrete monitoring and explosive testing. THERM-SS has a measurement range between -40°C and +100°C. Standard cable lengths are 5m, 30m and 50m, however custom length cables are available.

The HFP01 Heat Flux Sensor is the world’s most popular heat flux sensor for heat flux measurement in soil as well as through walls and building envelopes. By using a ceramic-plastic composite body the total thermal resistance is kept small.

The MP406 provides a measurement on the absolute Volumetric Soil Water % (VSW), based on the Standing Wave, or Amplitude Domain Reflectometry (ADR) measurement principle.
