Psychrometer Clamps and Osmotic Potential Insulator
Psychrometer clamps and osmotic potential insulator (OPI) are recommended accessories to secure the chamber in place during the installation. Clamps ensures that the chamber remains intact to a plant stem or leaf, while the OPI houses the chamber to provide a thermally insulated boundary.
PSY1-Stem Psychrometer Clamps
The parts of the psychrometer clamping device includes the 1 frame, 2 hex screws, 1 moveable jaw attached to the jaw screw. The psychrometer chamber is attached to the frame using the hex screws. The gap between the chamber and moveable jaw can be adjusted according to the stem diameter. They are available in three (3) different sizes: small, medium and large.
- Small stem psychrometer (PSYS-C37) – for stem sizes between 10 and 37 mm in diameter
- Medium stem psychrometer (PSYS-C77) – for stem sizes between 30 and 77 mm in diameter
- Large Stem Clamp (PSYS-C125) – for stem sizes between 78 and 125mm in diameter
PSY1 Osmotic Potential Insulator (PSY-OPI)
Stem psychrometer chamber can also be used in determining the osmotic potential of plant materials such as leaves and stem. The Osmotic Potential Insulator (PSY-OPI) provides a thermally insulated boundary around the chamber.
In effect, this eliminates the introduction of thermal gradients caused by a need to handle the chamber to load samples and provides a stable insulated thermal buffer from ambient temperature gradients within the surrounding environment. Removing these factors enables a very rapid equilibration time between samples and high accuracy of measurement from -0.1 MPa to -10 MPa.
