IoT Soil Moisture
Connected Soil Moisture Measurements
ICT International have selected a range of sensors to be integrated with their IoT Nodes, allowing customisable soil moisture measurement solutions using LoRaWAN or Cellular (CAT-M1/NB-IoT) communication.
With the addition of an IoT node, the sensing solution is able to provide accurate and near real-time continuous data for decision making or research purposes.
Four sensors are available:
- MP406 (ADR)
- SMT-100 (TDT)
- TDR310/315 Range (TDR)
- EnviroPro (Capacitance)
MP406 (ADR)
The MP406 Soil Moisture Sensor is a robust, long term soil moisture measurement sensor that is unaffected by soil temperature or salinity, measuring volumetric water content using standing wave technology. The MP406 can be calibrated to provide accuracy within ±1%, and using the standard calibration curves ±3%. Ideal for long term data collection in engineering and industrial applications, such as mines and landfills.
The AD-NODE-L1 (LoRaWAN) supports 1 x MP406
The MFR-NODE (LoRaWAN or CATM1/NB-IoT) supports up to 4 x MP406
SMT-100 (TDT)
The SMT-100 soil moisture probe uses Time Domain Transmission (TDT) technology, which combines the advantages of the low-cost FDR sensor system with the accuracy of a TDR system. Maintenance free and frost resistant, the SMT-100 can be used for long-term observations (8+ years continuous) and is a good choice for research, smart cities and agriculture.
The AD-NODE-L1 (LoRaWAN) supports up to 2 x SMT-100a
The S-NODE (LoRaWAN or CATM1/NB-IoT) supports up to 4 x SMT-100d
The MFR-NODE (LoRaWAN or CATM1/NB-IoT) supports up to 2 x SMT-100d
TDR310/315 Range (TDR)
TDR measures volumetric soil water (VSW%) independently of all other soil variables, including density, texture, temperature and electrical conductivity. TDR does not require in-situ calibration to accurately measure VSW%. With added EC and temperature measurements, the TDR is ideal for controlled cropping, horticulture and turf management.
The MFR-NODE (LoRaWAN or CATM1/NB-IoT) supports up to 2 x TDR-315 or TDR-310
The S-NODE (LoRaWAN or CATM1/NB-IoT) supports up to 4 x TDR-315 or TDR-310
EnviroPro (Capacitance)
EnviroPro® sub-surface Soil Probes have been carefully engineered to be long-life, maintenance-free instruments suitable for all soil types. Their design employs clever techniques to compensate moisture and salinity measurements for temperature variations and are commonly used in agricultural applications for crop irrigation scheduling.
The MFR-NODE (LoRaWAN or CATM1/NB-IoT) supports up to 2 x EP100GL-04/EP100GL-08, or 1 x EP100GL-12
The S-NODE (LoRaWAN or CATM1/NB-IoT) supports up to 4 x EP100GL-04, 3 x EP100GL-08, or 2 x EP100GL-12
MP406 (ADR) SNiP-MP4
SNiP-MP4 includes:
