EnviroPro Multidepth soil moisture probes
EnviroPro® sub-surface Soil Probes have been carefully engineered to be accurate, long-life, maintenance-free instruments suitable for all soil types. Their design employs clever techniques to correctly compensate moisture measurements for variations in salinity, as well as compensating moisture and salinity measurements for temperature variations
The EnviroPro Soil Moisture Probes are available in two versions, and four lengths for the measurement of soil mositure profiles. EnviroPro soil moisture probes are capacitance based measurements that apply a correction factor for soil salinity, the traditional limitation of capacitance probes.
With sensors at 10 cm intervals, the EnviroPro sensors are ideal for installation in root and drainage zones to measure soil moisture content for the plant water use to accurately establish irrigation requirements and scheduling. The sensors are avialable in the following lengths:
- 4 sensors, 40cm length
- 8 sensors, 80cm length
- 12 sensors, 120cm length
- 16 sensors, 160cm length
As standard, the EnviroPro sensor is compatible with SDI-12, and can be connected to RS-485 with an optional converter.
The measurement of soil moisture and temperature (and optionally salinity) by a single soil sensor enables easy installation for the measurement at specified depths. With the sensors spaced at 10 cm intervals, depths of up to 160 cm can be measured by a single installation, and importantly a consistent 10 cm interval of measurement. This uniformity allows for repeatable installations across sites, knowing that the measurement of soil moisture at these different depths are uniform independent of the installer.
The compensation for the salinity content of the soil ensures that the EnviroPro is an effective capacitance sensor that addresses the traditional weaknesses of the methodology. With the option of salinity measurement reporting, the EnviroPro sensor is a versatile sensor for irrigation management and scheduling.
