Leaf Wetness

Leaf wetness refers to the presence of free water on the canopy, and is caused by intercepted rainfall, dew, or guttation. The duration of the time period during which the leaves are wet is generally referred to as leaf wetness duration (LWD). ICT International provide IoT Nodes that can connect up to 4 Leaf Wetness Sensors, connect via either LoRaWAN or CAT-M1/NB-IoT.

Leaf wetness is a concern for the development of disease and the dispersal of pathogens; LWD is an important input (along with temperature) in many crop disease models which are used for determining the appropriate time for the use of preventative measures, such as fungicide application. The ICT-LWS Leaf Wetness Sensor is an important tool for observing and studying leaf wetness, for monitoring pests and diseases, and determining spray time for crops.

The AD-NODE-L1 (LoRaWAN) supports 1 x ICT-LWS-C (with measurements of temperature and rainfall additionally supported)

The MFR-NODE (LoRaWAN or CATM1/NB-IoT) supports up to 2 x ICT-LWS-S (with measurements of relative humidity, temperature and rainfall additionally supported)

The S-NODE (LoRaWAN or CATM1/NB-IoT) supports up to 4 x ICT-LWS-S (with measurements of relative humidity, temperature and rainfall additionally supported)
