IHF01 industrial heat flux sensor:

The IHF01 industrial heat flux sensor measures heat flux and temperature, typically in industrial high-temperature environments. IHF01 is waterproof, withstands high pressures and is extremely robust. With signal wires electrically insulated from the sensor body, it complies with industrial safety standards, such as CE and ATEX for explosive areas. IHF01 is particularly suitable for trend-monitoring and comparative testing.

• Using the IHF01 is easy. It can be connected directly to commonly used data logging systems. The heat flux, in W/m², is calculated by dividing the IHF01 output, a small voltage, by the sensitivity. The sensitivity is provided with IHF01 on its product certificate. Equipped with heavy duty cabling, and having a fully stainless steel casing so that moisture does not penetrate the sensor, IHF01 has proven to be very reliable. It survives long-term outdoor installation.
• Measurements: The IHF01 measures heat flux through the object on which it is mounted, in W/m², as well as the temperature in °C. The sensors in IHF01 are a thermopile and a type K thermocouple. The thermopile measures the local heat flux. The thermocouple measures the absolute temperature of the surface on which IHF01 is mounted, as well as the approximate sensor body temperature. A thermopile and a thermocouple are passive sensors; they do not require power.

IHF02 Ultra fast industrial heat flux sensor:

The IHF02 is 25 times more sensitive than model IHF01, so that, with the same measurement accuracy of its output voltage, it can be used to measure much lower heat flux levels. When equipped with the optional magnet frame and optional black coating. The part of the cabling closest to the sensor is a special high-temperature metal sheathed cable with an interlocked spiral stainless steel armour. The sensor as well as the high-temperature cable and armour withstand temperatures up to 900 °C. The temperature range is reduced to 650 °C in case the optional black coating is used. The magnet frame can be used up to 500 °C. The low-temperature extension cable has a jacket of PTFE type plastic.

• Measurements: The temperature sensor is a conventional type K thermocouple. Equipped with heavy-duty cabling and a fully stainless steel casing, preventing moisture from penetrating the sensor, IHF02 has proven to be very reliable. It survives long-term outdoor installation.
• Suggested use: IHF02 is most suitable for relative measurements, i.e. monitoring of trends relative to a certain reference point in time or comparing heat flux at one location to the heat flux at another location. If the user wants to perform accurate absolute measurements with IHF02, as opposed to relative measurements, the user must make his own uncertainty evaluation and correction for systematic errors.
• The IHF02 calibration is traceable to international standards. The factory calibration method follows the recommended practice of ASTM C1130-17. The IHF02 is calibrated at room temperature, mounted on a metal heat sink.

HF02 Flare radiation monitor / heat flux sensor:

The HF02 is used in alarm systems, using the heat flux measurement to issue a warning in case of high thermal radiation exposure of equipment or personnel. It is typically installed close to a flare. A typical alarm system will include multiple HF02 sensors, all aimed at the main source of radiation, as well as other decision-supporting devices such as camera systems and temperature sensors. The sensor in HF02 measures the heat flux to its black (absorbing) surface, in the plane of the sensor, from a source in the field of view angle. As the detector is essentially open (it has no protective windows) the measurement is influenced by wind in the same way as any exposed surface such as clothing worn by personnel or the surface of equipment; increased wind speed leads to a reduction of the measured heat flux. Rain on the detector can also lead to cooling and a reduction of the measured heat flux.

The HF02 Flare radiation monitor / heat flux sensor is a sensor that measures radiant heat flux or thermal radiation in the outdoor environment. A common application is monitoring the radiation emitted by flares. The HF02 is certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, and is rated for radiation levels up to 15 x 10³ W/m². We recommend use of HF02 in a decision-supporting role only, and not to use measurements of HF02 as the main or sole source of information for judging safety.

HF05 Industrial Heat Flux Sensor:

The HF05 industrial heat flux sensor measures heat flux through the object on which it is mounted, in W/m², as well as its surface temperature in °C. The sensors in HF05 are a thermopile and a type K thermocouple. A thermopile and a thermocouple are passive sensors; they do not require power. The sensors inside HF05 are protected by a fully sealed stainless steel body.

Typical applications of HF05 are studies of fouling in industrial environments mounted on tubing or on the jacket of reactors. HF05 is also used for performance evaluation of industrial insulation.
